The Cottages of Georgian Bay

Okay, okay, I know for all you Loopers out there, this is not a cottage on Georgian Bay, but it was just too pretty to pass up. This is one of the many charming homes that line the Trent Severn Waterway leading into Georgian Bay.

Now we are on Georgian Bay. One of the major distinguishing geological features throughout the bay are the huge granite rock structures found only here. This is part of the massive Canadian Shield that covers two thirds of the upper portion of Canada. Though this picture does not reflect it because it was a cloudy, overcast day, many of the rocks are pink granite and they are said to be some of the oldest known rocks on earth.

Some cottages are small and simplistic...while others can be quite grand. In either case, the cottage owners are very protective of their privacy and do not appreciate a boater anchoring in front of their cottage.
