After enduring the rough transit from Mackinaw City to Charlevoix and timing the opening of the draw bridge just right, we entered the charming harbor of Charlevoix and docked at the well run and beautifully maintained municipal marina. With colorful flowers, manicured lawns and trees, it was a welcoming stop for the night.

Charlevoix, Michigan
We decided to come down the east coast of Lake Michigan. Our first leg was yesterday 9-15-14. We moved from Mackinaw City, Michigan to Charlevoix. It was about a six hour boat ride. The day was cool and sunny. Winds of 5 to 10 knots were predicted. We stayed at Mackinaw Ciry for 6 days, waiting for the wind to lay down. After consulting several weather sources and local knowledge sources, we decided it was a good day to be on Lake Micihigan. Not so!!! We rocked and rolled our way to Charlevoix. Six hours of beam seas with waves up to five feet is not pleasure cruising. All the loose furniture walked its way around the boat and lamps and fans fell over. When I needed a bathroom break I had to sit on my bottom to make the trip from the fly bridge to the bathroom on the lower deck.
