Hoppies to Kaskaskia Lock Wall or Little River Diversion Canal

Today we have two plans:

Plan A: Hoppies to the Kaskaskia Lock Wall (41 miles).

Plan B: Hoppies to Little River Diversions Canal (110 miles).

It's 5:45 and it is foggy. We hoped to leave Hoppies by 7 am. We will see how the fog looks at 7.

9 am and still tied to Hoppies dock, waiting for the fog to lift.

Sunrise over the Mississippi River at Hoppies.

Our traveling companion, Tom and Cassie on SeaWolf. The last time we saw them was just prior to entering Delaware Bay, almost five months ago. We met up with them again yesterday and will probably be traveling with them the next three days.

The fog bank that the five boats are waiting for the sun to burn off.

Hoppies, all tied up and waiting.....

The thick fog bank that finally lifted at 9:30.

One of the nicer mansions along the Upper Mississippi River.

Since we left Hoppies more than two and a half hours later than we wanted to due to the fog, we decided not to go the 110 miles to the Diversion Canal.  Instead we stopped at the Kaskaskia Lock wall for the night and enjoyed a peaceful, beautiful afternoon on the Sundeck, out of the debris and numerous tows on the Mississippi River. We will do the 67 miles to the Diversion Canal tomorrow.
