Key West Diary 9

One of the nice things about staying at a military base marina is that many activities are either free or very low cost for active and retired military personnel. One such free activity was a paddle board class that was offered and that we went down to observe. Though we did not participate in this class it is something we intend to do in the future now that we have seen the basics of how it is done.

Most of the class appeared to have very little difficulty getting up and staying up on the board.

The lagoon near the marina was an ideal place to learn the basics as the water was shallow and almost flat calm.

After about thirty minutes most people were tired and coming back to the beach. Some had already assumed the kneeling position because they were too tired to continue to stand and paddle.

Just across the Marina from our sundeck is the Navigator Bar and Grill, where you can have lunch or dinner and Happy Hour prices for adult beverages are $1.50 for beer and $1.75 for mixed drinks! Considering the prices out in town or two, three and sometimes four times as much, this is a real bargain.

On top of that, on weekend evenings, live entertainment is provided for the Happy Hour crowd.
