About halfway through the Dismal Swamp Canal, you can tie up at the visitor center face dock for up to 48 hours. The dockage is tight and we had to raft up to a sail boat. This is a State Park with lots to see and do.
Jack and I were a little disappointed. From what we read about the Dismal Swamp Canal, we were expecting a more remote, isolated, area. Most of the way through the canal we could hear and see 18 wheelers buzzing by on the highway that parallels the canal.
How would you like to meet this guy (dredger/stump remover) coming the other way on this very narrow canal?
On to Norfolk, VA and the AGLCA Rendezvous. Four days of very bad weather are predicted. It has really turned cold again.
